Prose Poem

Introduction

A prose poem combines elements of prose and poetry. It is written in paragraphs like prose but uses writing tools such as imagery, rhythm, and more expressive language to evoke emotion.

Structure

Prose poems do not follow line breaks, rhyme schemes, or strict meter. They focus on imagery, emotional resonance, and musicality within sentences and paragraphs.

Example

I long for you

I long for you every bursting second, every waking minute, every quickening hour, every hostile day, every sleepless night, every continuing week, every hectic month, and soon, every awakening year, and hopefully, every dying decade, as my soul will linger for you in endless centuries, in infinite millennia, I long for you.

My Feedback

Writing prose poems encourages writers for enhancement on both narrative and poetic skills. It develops the writer to experiment with language, imagery, and rhythm without being bound by traditional poetic forms.
